Westland Cacti Potting Mix 4L, Brown

I bought this 4L bag for £5 as I desperately needed to repot my cacti and succulents after a few years.I liked that it was a handy, smaller sized bag as due to disability I struggle with holding/ managing heavier loads. Having never bought cacti compost before I wasn't sure what to expect tbh.I had read recently what was required in a garden magazine and the bag displayed all the needs plus seramis for hydration.Originally I had potted the cacti in normal multi purpose compost, what a bad idea. They had failed to grow or thrive and on removing the compost had just collected and stuck around the roots so tightly, it was as dry as old bones.Opening this new cacti compost I immediately saw there was a different mix of ingredients to help with drainage and hydration. There wasn't too much grit and large stones, the compost element was fluffy and dark which I feel is a good sign. The texture felt nice to handle and had a pleasant soil healthy smell.Thinking I wouldn't have enough I bought another bag of a different well known cacti compost from the local garden centre while I was there one day as a back up. I did have to end up using it as I ran out of this first one, I had more pots than I realised.Comparing the two - the one off amazon was by far the winner! The back up bag was bloody awful and I have binned it, a whole 8L bag!!For a fiver, im very pleased with the amount of potting mix, size of the bag and feel it is good value for my money. I reported probably 4 medium/ large sized pots before I ran out. Obviously it will depend on your pot sizes.The price has since gone up by about £1.50, which still in my opinion isn't too expensive especially as I'm pleased with the quality compared to another well known brand. I will be buying more when I need it that's for sure.My plants seem happier, it's only been a few days so I'm probably imagining it and willing them to be better really, haha.

Excellent compost for any circumstance, where extra drainage is required, not just for succulents or cacti. I set up a large terrarium, adding several plants & mounds of moss. This compost is the perfect substrate; all plants thriving, & terrariumlooks good. I've previously used it to grow succulents as collections & individual small ceramic pots - & impressed with results.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Used this cactus compost a few times and I've found it one of the better ones to use. My succulents and cacti haven't suffered any determent and some have even flowered using this, drains well and has sufficient texture for my plants that like a dry medium. Not the biggest bag of compost but I can recommend for it's quality.

Title say it all, really. The moment you open the bag smell it and dig your fingers in(as with much in life👀🤔🙀😁)you just know that it's good stuff.Looks good, smells good, lightweight, drains quickly whilst retaining enough moisture and holds enough to take your plants through the next 2-4 weeks.No bugs or nasties in it and, all I do, is zizz it up with some perlite that I get from Amazon.I pot my collection in clear pots. You can see by the root health and development that the plants love it. Makes it easy to check moisture levels, too👍.

Fantastic product. I have recently used this to repot a very sad aloe that had root rot from over watering and this new potting mix had completely saved my plant. It's easy to use and is dry in the bag making it easy to sprinkle into the right places. The nutrients have saved my plant so are great. The size of this bag repotted my aloe into a 20cm plant pot. Perfect size. It looks nice in the pot too with little white speckles of perlite.
