These Carbon Fiber Poles Are Indestructibly Light!
Stop scrolling—BUY THESE POLES. As someone who logs hundreds of miles annually on brutal mountain trails (think ultramarathons and alpine treks), I’ve tested countless trekking poles. The Distance Carbon Z Poles aren’t just good… they’re revolutionary. Here’s why they’ve earned a permanent spot in my gear lineup:✅ Featherlight, Yet Bombproof: The carbon fiber construction strikes a rare balance—these poles weigh almost nothing (seriously, you’ll forget they’re in your pack) but laugh off rocks, scree, and aggressive trail abuse. No wobble, no flex, just pure confidence on technical descents.✅ Collapse & Go Magic: Fold and toss them in a running vest or strapped to a backpack—zero bulk, zero hassle. Perfect for transitions between running and scrambling.✅ Grips That Defy Sweat: Even after 8 hours in 90°F humidity, the ergonomic grips stayed locked in my palms. No blisters, no slippage—just a vice-like hold that’s gentle on the joints.✅ Fixed-Length Brilliance: Adjustable poles always fail me mid-race. Not these. The fixed length is dialed for efficiency—no fiddling, no creaking, just instant stability.Who Needs These?Ultrarunners craving a speed boost on vert-heavy courses.Backpackers who prioritize weight savings without sacrificing durability.Anyone tired of ‘ultralight’ gear that snaps on first contact with reality. The Verdict:These poles deliver pro-grade performance at a fraction of the cost. If you’re serious about speed, comfort, and not babying your gear, grab them.

Great Poles for Trail Running
These poles are very light, fold down to a very compact size, and are easy to adjust. This combination makes them great for trailing running. My first time using them I ran a 10 miles race with >4,000 feel of climbing, and they were perfect!

Exactly what I needed, again.
This is my second set of these poles. The first one endured a lot. Twice at the UTMB, for instance. But, even the bravest warriors come to an end. RIP. After reviewing alternatives, I chose to repeat the dose. What I like the most is that there is no fuss opening and closing, in the middle of a race. It takes just a click to do it. It is preset to the height I like, no matter if I am climbing or descending a hill. If you are like me, I strongly recommend these poles. I understand that others would prefer to adjust the height according to the terrain. These poles are not for them.

They last
I’ve been using Diamond Back trekking poles daily for 10 years and they really last . So I gave my old poles to a friend and I bought these, they move better and are easier to walk with.

silver lock button broke j
I have used Black Diamond z poles for years as a walking aid instead of a cane. This latest version has been harder to lock and unlock when folding and unfolding than the earlier versions I have been using over the years and then the lock button broke just after a year of use. My earlier ones lasted and lasted - I only needed to replace them when I lost them by leaving them somewhere.

as advertised-
very light weight yet sturdy. Used it the first time on rocky terrain-full confidence. break down and set up is very fast so no issues with using it on the go, and then storing it while still on the go.

Not for off trail rough hiking
If you’re hiking on trial these will work fine. But if you’re going off trail in steep rough terrain pick something sturdier. The sliver quick lock button broke on me the fist time I slipped and used the poles for catching myself. My other poles (leki)lasted 3 years of heavy hiking and this set broke the first serious hike I went on. If you are looking for light weight, and are hiking established trails these will be okay. Look elsewhere for more sturdy off trail hiking poles
