I don't know much about SDR and like playing around with stuff. I was shopping for a new USB SDR and kept reading reviews about how hot they get and how annoying the software can be. Then I remembered the portapack, saw this hardware revision and instantly bought it.I wish I didn't have to pay for a bunch of antennas that aren't even labeled. I just sold my nanoVNA too... The included antennas seem to be of good quality but ultimately they're going to end up in the trash.The square green PCB is a USB-Micro powered amplifier.Speaking of USB, this device is real USB-C, it will charge from a USB-C source, no USB-A needed.You'll need a MicroSD card, and I highly recommend watching the youtube video "HackRF Portapack H4M Beginners Guide"

Appears to be the genuine device. Shipped with the most up to date mayhem 2.2.0 firmware at the time of purchase in August of 2025.I do not usually leave reviews but figured this may help someone. I encountered an error where the firmware failed and the device wouldn't boot and was unable to interface with a computer to recover it. Tried a windows box and a Linux box to no avail, dfu-utils wouldn't recognize that it was there even after performing all variations of the steps to put the device into DFU mode.The solution was: open the device, gently separate the two boards, remove the button cell battery from the portapack, then pressing the DFU button on the hackrf clone board plug it into the computer and reflash the firmware. Replace the button cell on portapack, gently reconnect the two boards and close up the device.

Excellent customer service and amazing product. Well built , no creaks, amazing little device. Thank you!Came with the clear shell but I put a different one for temporary looks. Nothing was wrong with the original, I just wanted to swap colors.
