Best money I’ve ever spent on my career!
Absolutely game-changing. After grinding through NeetCode, Grokking, and countless leetcode patterns with mixed results, this book felt like someone finally turned the lights on for me. The problem-solving framework Mike lays out is dead simple but insanely effective and I used it to land offers several FAANG tech offers in this crazy market! The book doesn’t just teach you how to solve problems; it teaches you how to think like someone who belongs at a top-tier company. No fluff, no hand-wavy advice—just a ridiculously clear plan that actually works. Best money I’ve ever spent on my career.

The real deal for interview prep
This book is exactly what I needed. I'm still working my way through it, but it's already made a huge difference. The best part is that it actually gives you a plan. Trying to figure out what to study and when for coding interviews feels so chaotic, but this book lays it all out super clearly with checklists and tiered topics. My interview prep plan feels so much less overwhelming now.The online resources are pretty awesome too - being able to do AI mock interviews for the problems and get practice questions based on what I've already learned is a huge help. The interviewing.io community access is also good for connecting with other people in the same interview prep boat. If you're feeling stuck like I was, definitely check it out. It's genuinely helping me get my act together for these interviews.

New Version Highly Recommended
I think this new edition is way better than the old one. The tone is much better than before. More inviting through presenting the hard cold facts of how the industry works and how it’s not a representation of personal failure. It provides insightful meta advice about applying to tech jobs though I’m sure this is offered for free if you go the website. The sections that go into the types of coding problems are thorough enough and disseminate what you need to know into useful pattern matching you can use to problem solve. The only downside for me personally is that the solutions to the tasks are at the end of that section. I like to randomly flip through the pages to try to quiz myself with a problem randomly and it’s unfortunate when I land in the solutions section. It’s harder to do this on a whim. Alternatively I’m pretty sure their AI interviewer pretty much gives you a random problem to solve. I just appreciated not having to be online to do this.I think the contributions made by the new authors are well worth taking a look especially if you still only have the old version. The website is another great additional source of help - and while you don’t need the book to access those resources, it’s a great way of supporting if you can afford.

Much Needed MODERN Update For Cracking Technical Interviews in 2025! *** I Doubled My Salary ***
I worked with one of the authors (Michael Mroczka) and Interviewing.io in 2023 so I had the opportunity to preview much of the material covered in this book. The prep in this book gives you a whole level of confidence and ease at going into technical interviews that really sets you up for success.RESULTS: I floundered trying to break into big tech since the start of 2021 (after being a web developer for 10 years). I was becoming despondent. After working with Michael for 10 weeks and going through his material, it all made sense! I learned how to (1) get attention so I could have the opportunity to interview and (2) how to nail my technical interviews. I landed my first tech job shortly after completing and a year later all of the tools I learned help me land my next big opportunity (and a doubling in my salary).METHODOLOGY:(1) Understand How Decisions Are Made Regarding Your Candidacy.I've always found the more you can understand the perspective of the buyer (in this case: your interviewer, hiring manager, recruiter, etc.), the more you can address their needs to make a purchase decision (to hire you). This book breaks down exactly what each decision maker is looking for when they interact with you. He (the book) provides easy to remember scripts so that in each scenario you're presented, you're prepared.(2) Recognize Patterns, Have Coding Templates For Likely Scenarios, and AdaptThis book contains the most comprehensive breakdown of the 95% likely technical questions you may encounter. Using Math & Computer Science Theory, these concepts are broken down so that they're easy to understand. By understanding HOW an approach works, you can easily adapt to the unique requirements of a problem. Simple to remember coding templates are provided so that you can easily have a solution to start with (which is SUPER USEFUL WHEN YOU'RE NERVOUS IN AN INTERVIEW) and scenarios are provided on how to adapt these templates to solving specific problems.PS I love the illustrations used to help explain complex concepts and solutions (approaches). I can attest that many of these illustrations have gone through many many many iterations (tested on students) to get them to their simplest, easily digestible forms.

Deserves the "Beyond" in its name!
This book deserves the "Beyond" in its name. In addition to coding interview prep material, it offers a comprehensive guide to the end to end SWE job search process - how to identify opportunities, land and navigate interviews and negotiate offers. I liked the attention given to behavioral interviews (with links to mock interviews) since folks tend to overlook this area of prep and is such a huge factor in leveling. I also really liked how the coding section focuses on pattern matching approaches rather than rote memorization. Highly recommend.Caveat I'd like to point is it does not have system design prep material - which would be hard to fit in given that it is already a 600+ page book!

Good but can be improved. Will recommend it.
Got the print version of the book and liked it. My only complaint is the that the font size is small and the first 250 pages could just be posted online and instead could have used that space for larger fonts or more problems. This feedback can be addressed in the future editions.Overall, I recommend this book given its online material and collection of problems. However, I would pair this book with {Alex and Shaun}'s coding interview patterns.
