Book Description Where science and belief meet . . . A terrifying thriller from 'Britain's answer to Stephen King and Michael Crichton' [Sunday Telegraph] Synopsis Ross Ransome is at the top of his profession; one of the most successful, and certainly one of the richest, plastic surgeons in the business. Such a man would expect his wife to be perfect - and why not? After all, he has spent enough hours in surgery to get her that way. But when his wife falls ill she turns her back on conventional medicine, and her arid marriage, and seeks help from the world of alternative medicine and a charismatic therapist who promises not just medical salvation. For Ransome, this is the ultimate betrayal. It defies logic, and Ross Ransome is a profoundly logical man. Logically, he can see no reason why any man should have his wife when he can't. It's all completely rational... A brilliant book, full of suspense.
When it is discovered that Faith is terminally ill her husband, Ross, appears to move heaven and earth to find a cure. Not happy with clinical trials and low success rates Faith seeks help with alternative medicine, not realizing how life changing her decision will be.This book had me hooked from the start. I enjoyed how some of the early chapters went back in time and explained the thoughts and actions of the antagonist (Ross). The relationships between the Ross, his wife and son are complex and distorted due to the Ross’s opinions on family life.I thought all the characters were well written and the plot moved along at a great pace. I did particularly enjoy the character of Ross, seeing how he had become the person he’d grown into and how the consequences of his actions impacted on those around him.A brilliant book, full of suspense.

As good as always.
Keeps you wanting to know more right until the last page. You may have an idea how it's going to end but the way it's achieved is up to his usual high standard of mystery.

Was not too bad.
I love the 'Dead' series from Peter James and have read most of them. I prefer those to this book l must admit. The extreme turns of character suddenly appearing after years of happy companionship seemed not to ring true for me.

Riveting!
I'm glad to see lots of Peter James' earlier books now available on Kindle, as I've read all of the Roy Grace books and have to wait until May 2011 for the next one.Faith is a riveting read - full of mystery around the central character, who the book is named after. Faith is married to an eminent plastic surgeon who also happens to be a psychopath and control freak. When Faith contracts a life threatening disease she has no option but to put her life in her husband's hands. This leads to a roller coaster of mystery and intrigue as Faith tries to resist and get help - and there's murder ahead..! The plot keeps you reading to the end to find out what's going on.I LOVE Peter James' style of writing and his skilful way of building up a mystery and then gently unfolding it, with totally believable characters and situations.

Insane?
As a regular reader of Peter James books I have to say that Faith is not one of my favourites as the plot is too predictable. However, the storyline is a chilling reminder of how mental health can be manipulated and laid open to interpretation. Overall a good read and a solemn reminder that we shoudn't judge mental health issues with such poor understanding of the brain and it's functions. The definition of insanity depends on the perspective taken by the observer, read on.

Brilliant!
Having read all the Cheif Inspector Roy Grace novels, I decided to try some of Peter James' other works. They range from short stories with a twist & thrillers to the supernatural. This one I highly recommend.Though written and set back in the 90s, it remains contempory in ity's content. Clever plot with a layered narrative, I found it engrossing.

Started well then...
By the end had descended into nonsense. Too many coincidence's and completely unbelievable characters and holes in the plot. Luckily this is the second book by Peter James I've read. The first was Possession which I thought was fantastic which is why I decided to read some more of his stuff . If this had been the first I don't think I would have bothered with any others.
