Limited green vinyl LP pressing of this album from the former ABBA vocalist. Shine is the fourth studio album by Swedish singer Anni-Frid Lyngstad, and her second international solo album as Frida. It was first released in September 1984. This album has never been officially released in the United States, but was issued in Canada by WEA. This is Lyngstad's last English language studio album to date. After the success of Something's Going On, Phil Collins was to produce again for Frida's next album, but as Genesis formed part of his other commitments, producer Steve Lillywhite took over his role. Recording began on 1 February 1984, at the Studios de la Grande Armée, Paris, France. The producer was Steve Lillywhite, and at only 29 years of age, he was already known for his work with Peter Gabriel, the Rolling Stones and U2 amongst others. At the time of recording, both Something's Going On and Shine, Lyngstad wanted to distance herself from the "typical ABBA pop-sound" and try new directions. Lillywhite managed to give Lyngstad an even more modern and complex soundscape than Phil Collins had done on her previous album.

Shine bright.
I've always had a strong liking for this under-appreciated slice of 80s pop-rock. Steve Lillywhite's production is excellent and the heavyweaight vinyl does it justice. Some superb tracks: Shine, Twist In The Dark (a real tour-de-force for all involved), The Face and One Little Lie are all standouts. Frida's own composition "Don't Do It" (one of only a handful over the years, sadly) is a soft peach of a song that has aged beautifully. The sleeve scan is a mixed bag. The colours are over-saturated and the layout of the back looks a little out of proportion, as though the scan has been zoomed in a bit. The green translucent vinyl is a few shades too dark to properly chime with the overall design, but it's not *too* bad.Overall, I'm pleased to have this excellent album in a refreshed vinyl format. I think the original sleeve might be repurposed to make up for Back To Black's laziness.

Gotta love 180 gram vinyl
Musically not a great album though there are 3 tracks on it that I like especially "Twist In The Dark"as on a great turntable through a great amp and speakers this track is great but what I like about this album is first that it was re released! who ever thought it would be! and second of all it is on 180gram vinyl meaning it is actually BETTER than what the original was as it was then only on light weight crappy vinyl..... So it has taken all these years to hear this as it should be heard..... In fact the full collection of 6 releases is a must have as all of them are on the 180gram vinyl where every original press was not....

Wrong colour dispatched.
2nd post ABBA solo album by Frida. Ordered the green vinyl but ended up with black. Other than that it’s a fantastic album, albeit underrated, by one of the world’s best female singers.

the credits are like a who's who of mid 80's "cool gang"
My fave Frida album. Shame SGO gets all the credit! Where SGO seemed heavily Phil Collinised, this is much more fresh and poppy. So many artistes of the time are involved, the credits are like a who's who of mid 80's "cool gang"! Benny and Bjorn wrote a song which is included here too. Something for everyone.
