A bit more expensive but faster than cheaper drives, and CMR *not* SMR.
I chose this drive because unlike the cheaper drives I considered it uses CMR** rather than SMR**, and has a larger cache. It benchmarks faster than my older HDDs (about 25% faster). One word of warning though - when I first installed it, it was constantly making a noise I associate with continuous head seeking, and this was confirmed by the seek counts in the SMART data increasing all the time, even with absolutely no read/write activity. I was starting to think it was faulty. However, after a few days it settled down and this behaviour stopped completely. So I'm guessing that as a more expensive "gaming" drive, it maybe has some fancy optimisation keeping it occupied to start with, and maybe this behaviour was triggered by me reformatting it to a different filesystem. Speculation though.Anyhow it seems fine now.** CMR = Conventional Magnetic Recording, SMR = Shingled Magnetic Recording. If you tend to ever write large amounts of data in a short period (more than a couple of hundred GB at once, say) you *really* need to know about this, search for "SMR vs CMR" for an explanation.

Very happy
Really happy with this HDD.Far more responsive than my previous HDD.Also, for the first time I bought an item over 4 months instead of a one off payment. That made things really painless.
