First off, these are ceramsite and not leca. I say this so others won't make a mistake when they purchase them. I wanted the ceramsite because I'm using it as a filler in my standard potting mix that I make. They will help with drainage and create air for the roots. Which will help reduce root rot and other pests and they are small enough to use with very small roots.There was very little dust and no broken pebbles. Like others have mentioned, with the small size, you don't get a lot of volume and therefore you can't use them by themselves for vary many pots. Even using them like the way that I am, I may need to buy more.If you are looking for ceramsite, then these will work just fine for you. Just remember that you can't really use them for holding water or nutrients. Although they are porous enough to a very small amount of water or nutrients. If that's what you want, then go with leca.

It makes a beautiful top cover for my succulents that also help retain some moisture in the summer heat. The colors are accurate after washing or watering - it's dusty at first. I highly suggest you just place it on top and water right after to reveal the colors. It doesn't fade after drying and the dusky green and brown is a nice touch to the color range. My only con about this is the packaging - you should not stand this bag up and expect it to stay up... it's too heavy (i spilt it all over my work space the first time I opened it), so either be careful when taking some out and seal it back up right away or move it to any other container that isn't paper.

Are very well pkged and make the plants stand out. Easy to work with.

Good for succulents and fun color variety. Two pounds is a surprisingly small amount of pebbles.

I started a little cactus garden and wanted different colors to show off my favorite succulents. These lava rocks looked just right. When they arrived, they were a bit dusty and when I hosed them down they turned into a bright pretty black. The packaging was great, comes in a bag that I can just pour around my succulents. The water goes right through and because I live in the desert, I want to take make sure it doesn't go to waste. The lava rock helps that.

I purchased these to place atop my succulent plants. Really completed the look!
