Should have bough this years ago
Standard meters will only go up to 20A DC. I own a heavy equipment service. We often need to measure current greater than 20A. With standard meters, anything greater than 20A would burn out the fuse. Before meters with self-resetting fuses, it meant throwing the meter away or having to open it up to change the fuse. I don't know how many times my guys have hooked up an ammeter in series with a battery and accidentally turn on the lights or cranked the starter. These clamp meters are surprisingly accurate. Also in the past, I've had problems finding DC clamp ammeters for under $200. This one really is a bargain. I also appreciate the auto-range selection. I've wasted weeks of my life trying to explain to people how to set the range on multimeters.

So far, a great meter overall except for the very low volume beep.
Arrived as promised. Accuracy is questionable based on other reviews but I haven't tested it against my Fluke. Has an amazing amount of features for the price. Bought this to replace my Mastec which lasted two years with daily use because of the added features like non-contact sensor and temp probe. The lighted display is great, makes it easy to read in low light conditions. Wish it included alligator clips for the probes.ONE MAJOR DRAWBACK:The beep for checking continuity and non- contact sensor are barely audible. Useless If there's any background noise. I may contact the seller to see if this is normal.

20 yrs in hvacr, service, its like i have a new friend! love it
im an hvac service tech, & after buying multiple back up multimeters, this one is is the one, great feel( rubber coated) , GREAT OPERATION, no problems at all with mine, best meter for the price period.buy 6 of these instead of one fluke, reads breakers amp draw before breaker trips on a direct short, thats fast!nice audiable continuity tester sound, great light, (both lcd read out light,& mini amp clamp light)davi highly reccommend this meterdoing hvac for almost 20 years, this is my favorite multimeter to datelook NO FURTHER 4 a main multimeter to replace your old tired ( inaccurate) testeru will not be sorry5 starz

Too cheap, too slow, too much error.
This meter looks nice, however the case is a bit cheap and so are the electronics and firmware. On the 60 Amp DC range it will consistently show 0.2 to 0.5 Amps of offset error with nothing near the meter. There is no way to calibrate the offset error, but even if one could, it drifts too much anyway. The peak minimum and maximum feature is useless, it responds much too slow, if you can’t read the changing values in normal mode the current pulse was too short to register in peak mode. Example, you will not be able to measure the current your car takes to start with this meter.

Giving 2 stars as of now..the unit is DOA after just under 3 months of light use. Amazon support gave me an international number to call MASTECH which is BS. I found NO WARRANTY info at all either on the provided user manual or on MASTECHs website...i did find a USA number in CA to call mastech, where i was given an email address to write to...in other words, right off the bat any kind of warranty is a run around. Will edit this review given any response from Mastech..OK, the seller was very helpful and has responded that they are replacing the unit. New one is in the mail and they provided me a UPS tracking number. This I find to be quite a plus! So hats off to the seller- Measuring InstrumentsSo on another note, out of curiosity, I opened the unit (2 philips screws, one above and one below the battery bank) and see that there are (2) spring contacts that connect the +/- from the battery bank to the pc board of the meter. I put a drop of Deoxit contact cleaner on each and low and behold got the unit working again..albeit briefly, after a few tasks she died again, so there must be some other demons in the electronics.I do work out of an un-airconditioned shop and I live in the deep south w/ high temps and humidity, perhaps this particular meter is not suited for such an environment. Otherwise it seems like a decent meter especially for the $$, will see on the replacement.Another note: I still could not find any warranty info from the manufacturer Mastech. Nada in the provided manual, nada on there website and nada response to email sent directly to them (per phone call to Mastech USA number) so that said, maybe this brand is to be avoided. As for the seller on Amazon, Measuring Instruments, their customer service was top notch, so I give a 3 star rating at the end of the day.....

This is an excellent meter for servicing equipment and general use
This is an excellent meter for servicing equipment and general use. Considering how many functions is has, it's an incredible bargain. I compared the current measured by the clamp with my reference Amprobe DLC-100, and they are very close. The non-contact voltage sensor (NCV) is the most sensitive I've seen (almost too sensitive); it sounds the alarm when the meter is within 6" of an energized wire. The box contains:* The meter itself* Test probes* Thermocouple probe* Batteries (3 AAA)* Zippred case large enough for the meter and the probes
